The Heir to Disaster
Like Eladriel, Athemay is an angel that is worshiped as a goddess. Athemay is considered not only the first angel, but one of the earliest creations of the gods, and is the only angel (apart from Fallen Angels) that is not among the heavenly host controlled by Eladriel. Athemay is synonymous with justice itself; blind, wielding a sword, and carrying a set of scales. The sword she holds symbolizes not just a violent, necessary execution of the law, but also the division of the world of gods and of men and of miracles and magic, order and disorder. The scales of course represent judgement, how one’s deeds are accounted for and measured. Athemay was the angel employed by Tarim to communicate to Vuldran. Worship of Athemay is divided into two very different sects due to the Establishment Schism. In the north of Lakmyr, Athemay is a minor, patron deity with a small cult among Tarimite Inquisitors. Southern Lakmyr is dominated by the institution of Athemay’s church which places worship of her first and foremost not just among Inquisitors, but for all persons ‘Subject to the Law’.
